All in a day: Regular face time with boss makes employees smile
Kansas City Star – MO, USA

"If the boss talks to you about what your dreams are, how you fit, then
you've also got the motivation for working harder, better," he said. "You
really want to have almost constant communication to make that happen."

In fact, there is a "direct link between performance and the number of
times managers meet with employees," said Nancy Merimee, an adjunct
professor in human resource administration at Olathe's MidAmerica
Nazarene University.

Discussions about career growth are "key motivators for employees to stay
with the organization – a way that employees see a reward. And, in turn,
the organization has the basis for a succession plan," Merimee said."
