PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE "CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP"

Do you need help? I was recently speaking at a
conference and a person came up to me and said,
"We have never met in person, but I have been
getting your newsletter for years." I enjoy all
the information you provide." Then she said
something that hit me like a ton of bricks. She
said, "I never knew until today you can come into
my organization and help us."

You should never assume people know what you do.
I started this business over 10 years ago because
I wanted to help people and wanted to help
businesses become more successful. I don't just
speak at meetings. My company helps businesses
solve problems. We employ a host of qualified
professionals who are available to assist you.

So, next time you are looking for a solution,
contact us. Feel free to call us at 770-860-9464
or use our contact form on our websites. If we
can't solve your problem, we will recommend
someone who can.

DO YOU TRUST YOUR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT?

This question is bound to get some people upset.
Where do employees turn when they need help? It
should be the HR department. That may be true in
your organization, but it might not be true
somewhere else. Here is your chance to let us
know how you feel. The results will be provided
in a future issue of the Navigator Newsletter.

Please take three minutes out of your busy day and
complete our survey.

LEADING OLDER EMPLOYEES

Here is a question sent to me by a subscriber:

"I am a new general manager in a fast growing
furniture company. I am a quite a few years
younger than a many of my employees; this seems to
make it more difficult for them to respect me. Do
you have any advice?"

Answer:

Obviously, when leading people who have more
experience than you, it is important for you to
establish respect and trust with those you lead.
This takes time. I wrote an article a while back
called, The First 90 Days on the Job: Eight Things
Managers Need to Do. You can find this article

NEW FEATURES AND SERVICES

Do your people get along with each other? Here is
one of our popular ON-SITE workshops.

Dynamic Teambuilding: How to Enhance Communication

the mysteries in dealing with people on and off
the job.

THE INSTITUTE OF EMPLOYEE RETENTION
& JOB SATISFACTION

Successful organizations realize employee
retention and talent management is integral to
sustaining their leadership and growth in the
marketplace. Attracting, hiring, and retaining
high-caliber employees in today's labor market
challenges all organizations to manage talent at
all levels.

This program provides strategies and suggestions
on ways to turn an average organization into a
highly productive, low-turnover environment where
managers can focus on productivity — not
recruiting and replacing an endless stream of
workers.
